Kevin,

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah tiredness can be hard to overcome but it can be overcome. CBT is a good way to help perceive negative reactions to it. Thanks again and good luck with your recovery. All the best. Justin

Thanks for sharing how you are beating tiredness Valerie . I was
Personally hopping that I could overcome this tiredness by finding
A mental approach that I can believe in , and you have got me thinking
That I can also put my mind at work after all as you said Tiredness is Just
Tiredness .

Valerie: I agree with you Valerie, this is exactly how I feel as well.

Depression Tiredness: Tiredness does not PREVENT you from doing anything. That is the attitude which perpetuates depression. Tiredness is simply a barrier that must be overcome, and a problem that must be solved. When act in accordance with the physical demands of "being tired," you are giving control to your condition.

This is all well and good, however even knowing this is not enough to overcome tiredness. It takes a motivating factor that feels more immediate than being tired. Other people physically being there who can motivate you and talk to you is one important first-step.

If you don't have that, then try this: begin writing about how tired you are. When you are satisfied that you have completely described what it means to be as tired as you are, write about what you would do if you weren't tired. What is tiredness preventing you from doing? Focusing on what tiredness prevents you from doing actually gives you energy and drive that can overcome the immediate feeling of tiredness. By focusing on what is really important to you, you can actually create a counter-acting emotional state which can rival even the power of tiredness.

Just think of tiredness as being outside in freezing temperatures without a coat. It's really difficult to stand those temperatures, but if it meant saving someone's life, would it not be worth it? Well, by taking action despite your tiredness, you ARE saving a life: your own.

I think the tiredness is the worst symptom of depression - as it prevents you to do anything, thus feeling even more terribly and guiding you to the never-ending spiral... :-(
